Ernest R. “Ernie” Rogers, 83, of Washington, entered into rest Monday, August 7, 2023, at Wills Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Rogers was born in Washington, was the son of Clyde and Wynelle Wolfe Rogers, and was the husband of Frances “Frankie” Pinyan Rogers. He graduated from Washington-Wilkes High School, He was a former paint salesman and was the owner/operator of Wilkes Interiors that sold paint, carpet, and other home decor. Ernie had a love for youth outreach, camp ministry, and for the Washington-Wilkes Tiger Blue & Gold. He was instrumental in the forming of the Wilkes County Hall of Fame, and was a member and elder of the Washington Bible Chapel.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Frances “Frankie” Rogers, of Washington; two sons, Bill Rogers (Carrie), of Dalton, and David Rogers, of Rayle; four grandchildren Cory Rogers, Alexander Germain, Michael Hytt, and Rebecca Germain.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 10, 2023, at the Hopkins Funeral Home Chapel with Sam Thorpe and Tommy Bunch officiating. Interment will follow at Washington Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hopkins Funeral Home on Thursday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service (from 1pm-2pm).
Pallbearers will be Eddie Rogers, Clyde Rogers, Sammy Groover, Luke Urban, David Hollinsworth, and Caleb Riordan.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Washington Bible Chapel, c/o Tommy Bunch, 1991 Lincolnton Rd., Washington, Ga. 30673.
