Emily Georgia Cowan, loving mother, Mimi and friend passed away and went to join our Lord and Savior on December 21, 2021 at her home. She was 90 years old. Georgia was born September 15, 1931 in Spring Lake, New Jersey. She was the youngest of seven children and loved school. Georgia graduated top of her class in high school and excelled in secretarial skills. She was offered a job at the local school but turned it down to become a waitress because the money was better. While working as a waitress, she met a WWII paratrooper from Saint Pete, FL. named Ian Cowan and fell in love. Together they raised three children, Douglas, Mark and Heather in Hialeah, Florida. Georgia finally did take a position as a school secretary where she was fond of saying that she kept three different principals in line and out of trouble! Georgia was a gifted person with many talents. She was an excellent seamstress and re-upholstered furniture for friends. She sewed the sails for the 30 foot sailboat that she and Ian built in their backyard. She created and donated nearly 100 little dresses for girls in Africa after she moved to Georgia to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Joe Riley. Georgia was always quick to lend an ear or a hand.Georgia loved adventure, life and her family.Georgia gave to others all throughout her life and now in her death. She continues to give through the donation of her body to science. Georgia is survived by her three children, son-in-law and three grandchildren, Ian Cowan, Justin Riley and Elissa Anderson as well several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all. Memorial Services will be held January 8, 2022 at 11:30 at her church, Danburg Baptist Church, Tignall, Georgia.
