Mrs. Elmyra Patterson Chafin, 94, lifelong resident of Washington and the third daughter of Frazier and Susie Mary Newsome Patterson of the Metasville community died on May 16, 2013 at Wills Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.She was preceded in death by her late husband, Austin ‘Bill’ K. Chafin and six siblings, Louise Gaines, Erlene Jones, Ulee Long, Herbert Patterson, Irene Swann and Hazel Hunt. Myra was a homemaker and former employee of Royal and Barnett Manufacturing Companies.Before her declining health, she was an active member of Washington Presbyterian Church, the adult Sunday School class and the women’s circle. She is survived by four daughters, Frances (John) Reed of Washington, Barbara Gassaway, of Lincolnton, Joyce Brown of Sharon and Kaye (George) Lokey of Thomson; One sister, Lois Greene of Crawfordville; six grandchildren, Kelly Reed of Roswell, Pat and Jeff (Rita) Gassaway of Lincolnton, Kim (Jay) Blake of Lilburn, Cameron (Sara) Lokey of Augusta and Carrie Lokey of Thomson.She was blessed with six great grandchildren, Andrew and Kayla Gassaway, Jackson, Olivia and Holden Blake and Mary Morgan Lokey, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, May 19th at 3pm in Resthaven Cemetery, Washington, with Rev. Ficklen Guin presiding.The family will receive loved ones following the service at the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Washington Presbyterian Church or your favorite charity.
