Elizabeth L. Smith

Myra Elizabeth Lindsey Smith, 86, of Sandtown, Georgia, formerly of Snellville GA, passed away peacefully after declining health into the arms of her heavenly Father on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Tignall Assisted Living. Elizabeth was born in Wilkes County on November 19, 1936, to the late Louie Lamar Lindsey and Ruby Wheatley Lindsey. She is also preceded in death by her brother Lamar Lindsey. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Charles M. Smith, and one son Kurt M. Smith (Lorrie) of Remlap AL; her beloved grandchildren: Nicole Smith Dumas (Nathan) of Gardendale AL, Owen Smith and Sean Smith, both of Remlap AL; brothers-in-law Morgan Smith (Sandra) of Hiawassee; Graham Smith (Glenda) of Snellville; and Jon Smith of Elberton; numerous dear cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Elizabeth grew up in the Sandtown community. After graduating from Tignall High School, she successfully completed courses in Secretarial Studies at Bolen Business School in Augusta. She then worked many years as a dependable, hardworking employee for various companies, including Merry Bros. Brick & Tile Co. (Augusta); Atlanta companies Union Carbide, PaperCon, and Peachtree Windows & Doors. As long as she could, Elizabeth regularly attended church services and enjoyed Bible Study. She loved God and others, often showing thoughtful lovingkindness through calls, cards, notes, and making delicious dishes or cakes to help others in need. Elizabeth, who was greatly loved, will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 1, 2022, at 2:00pm at the Hopkins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kurt M. Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Fishing Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 1, 2022, 1:00pm – 2:00pm at Hopkins Funeral Home.
