Mrs. Edythe Hester McCall, 88, of Pine Lane in Washington, died Monday morning at Southern Manor Senior Living Facility. Mrs. McCall was a native of Wilkes County and had lived here all of her life.She was the daughter of the late John Pilcher Hester and Mary Norman Hester.She was the wife of Mr. Marvin D. Armour, and was preceded in death by her first husband of 48 years and father of her two children, Lewis S. McCall.She was a homemaker and also worked at various retail locations around Washington, including Fievet Pharmacy and Blackmon’s Department Store.She was a member of the Phillips Mill Baptist Church.She was also preceded in death by her sisters; Marie West, Maydelle Denard, Nell Bowers, and Reba Hester; and by her brother, Marion Hester.She is also preceded in death by two grandsons, Kendall McCall and Chandler McCall. She is survived by her husband, Marvin D. Armour, Washington; one son, Steve McCall (Donna), of Martinez; one daughter, Lisa Florence, Washington; four grandchildren, Jeremy Florence (Jillian) of Alpharetta, Daniel Florence (Bethany), Cumming, Hannah Florence, Washington, and Mallory Ruehle (Stewart), Thomson; and 9 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be 2:00pm on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at Resthaven Cemetery with Pastor Mark Woods officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm at Hopkins Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Phillips Mill Baptist Church.
