Earl Waiman Bennett

Mr. Earl Waiman Bennett, 79, of Lexington Rd. NW, Crawfordville, GA, died Friday, March 3, 2017, at his home. Mr. Bennett was born in Berrien County, and had lived in Taliaferro County since 1981.He was the son of the late Joe Bennett and Mittie Ruth Hodge Bennett, and was the widower of Lyda Jean Hughes Bennett.He was a retired construction superintendent, and was preceded in death by a son, Joe Waiman Bennett. Mr. Bennett is survived by three sons, Greg Bennett (Shirley), of Fort Valley, Steve Bennett, of Valdosta, and Ken Bennett (Hope), of Buckhead; two daughters, Emily Rutherford (June), of Crawfordville, and Judy Gentry (David), also of Crawfordville; one sister, Martha Birdwell, of Warner Robins; 18 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the home from Saturday (March 4) at noon until 9pm Saturday evening. On Sunday, Mr. Bennett will be moved to Lovein Funeral Home in Nashville, GA, for a graveside service on Monday, March 6, 2017,at Carter Cemetery in Lake Park, GA, with Rev. Mike Bennett officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Hopkins Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
