Mr. Douglas Eugene Pollock, 68, of Washington, entered into rest on Friday, February 17, 2023, at his home with his loving family present.
Douglas was born in Montgomery, Ala., to Dr. John Edward Pollock, Jr. and Lucille Raulz Pollock. He moved to Texas in his early childhood before growing up in Washington, Ga., with his family. He was a graduate of Wilkes Academy and of the University of Georgia, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the Warnell School of Forestry in 1978. He was President of Pollock Land and Timber.
Douglas loved spending time with his family and friends, whether it was spent outdoors or at a sporting event. He loved sharing stories of his boyhood and teaching others about wildlife and forestry. Douglas was an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, golf, and his beloved Black Labrador Retrievers. He also enjoyed gardening, especially growing tomatoes.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Bentley Pollock, of Washington; his daughter, Erin Pollock, of Atlanta; one sister, Linda P. Talbert, and husband John, of Waycross; one brother, Gary Pollock, and wife Katherine, of Seneca, S.C.; his uncle, Dr. Gene Pollock, and wife Joanne, of Washington; his aunt, Helen Davis Raulz, of Corpus Christi, TX; and by a large number of cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. John Edward Pollock, Jr. and Lucille Raulz Pollock; and by his uncle, Douglas Irwin Raulz, of Corpus Christi, TX.
The memorial graveside Celebration of Life will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2023, at Resthaven Cemetery with Dr. Phil Pilgrim officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening, February 23, 2023, at the Washington First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
