David Tennyson Kirk

December 11, 1951 — July 22, 2020

Dr. David Tennyson Kirk, beloved Washington physician for some 33 years, passed away July 22, 2020, at University Hospital in Augusta. Dr. Kirk was a native of Charleston, WV, and had lived in the town of Washington for over 30 years.He was the son of the late Jack Edward Kirk and Ora Mae Belcher Kirk, and was the husband of Rosalyn Miller Kirk. He was loved and respected by his many patients over the years as well as those professionals fortunate enough to have worked with him. His dedication to the wellness of those in need did not go unnoticed, and his expertise will be missed greatly. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Washington. Survivors include his wife, Rosalyn M. Kirk, of Washington; three sons, Joseph Kirk, and wife Connie, of Murrells Inlet, SC, James Kirk, of Lemon Grove, CA,and Bryce Daniel Tate Cacho, and wife Jessica, of Hesperia, CA; three daughters, Jennifer Kirk, Mt. Pleasant, MI, Amber Marr, and husband Nathan,of Jackson, SC, and Chemaine Simmons, and husband Josh, of Appling; twelve grandchildren; and by his two brothers, Jack Edward Kirk, of Rayle, and Gary Wayne Kirk, and wife Mary, of Warner Robins. Private funeral services will be held at 11:00am Thursday morning, July 30, 2020, at the Harvest Time Christian Center with Pastor Loren Hodnett and Rev. Terry Casper officiating. A private interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery where a U. S. Army funeral honors team will perform in his honor. Pallbearers will be Dr. Robert Williams, Joseph Kirk, Gary Kirk, Michael Horgan, Nathan Marr, and Bryce Cacho. There will be a visitation on Wednesday evening from 6-8 at the Hopkins Funeral Home Chapel. Masks will be required as well as social distancing, while limiting the number of people in the chapel, including family, to 50 at any one given time.The family and Hopkins Funeral Home thanks you for your understanding, as the family’s safety and your safety is of the utmost importance. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Washington-Wilkes Animal Shelter, 358 Brown Dr., Washington, Ga. 30673.
