David Sidney Danner Iii

Mr. David Sidney Danner III, 70, of Athens (formerly of Danburg), entered into rest Friday morning, November 24, 2023, at his residence.

David was born in Elberton, but with a couple of exceptions, had lived most of his life in Wilkes County.  He was the son of the late D. S. Danner and “Sis” Bumgardner Danner, and had worked mainly in the construction industry, specializing in concrete finishing work with Denard-Moore Construction Co.  David attended Washington-Wilkes High School, then graduated from Wilkes Academy in 1971-their first graduating class.  He was known by almost everyone, as he was an easy person to get to know and appreciate.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Leonard Danner.  David was a member of Hiram Masonic Lodge #51 in Danburg, and was a member of the Fishing Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his sister, Kathy Danner, of Athens, and by a number of cousins.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 26, 2023, at the Fishing Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Barry McAvoy officiating.  The family will be receiving friends Saturday evening, November 25, 2023, from 6-8 P.M. at Hopkins Funeral Home.
