Curry Julian May

February 4, 1963 — March 10, 2014

Curry May On Monday morning one of the brightest lights the world has ever seen was extinguished. With love and energy abounding he was taken from us too soon.Curry Julian May, Jr. was born on February 4, 1963 at Crawford Long Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA.Curry was a beloved husband, father, brother, son and nephew. His love for his wife, Meg, and sons Julian and McClendon was unfailing. His twin sons were the light of his life. When they were born he was overjoyed. He was so proud of their interests in soccer, history, travel and the war of northern aggression.Their travels took them to Belgium, Germany, Austria and other places that he held dear.Full of wonder they listened to Daddy’s stories of growing up, the fun and friends he made at Darlington, Marion Military Institute, Virginia Military Institute and of course reliving his Chi Phi days at the University of Georgia. After Curry graduated from UGA with a B.A. in Political Science he studied law at Creighton University where he learned to endure the cold Omaha winters. He made wonderful friends everywhere he went.Curry never knew a stranger.Upon graduating from Creighton he moved back to his Atlanta home and took a position at Lawson, Davis, Pickren and Seydel practicing commercial transaction law. Upon his second year at the law firm he met a pretty temporary receptionist named Meg.She could handle his brashness and rivaled his intellect.A true partnership was born. After four years of courting Meg agreed that she might be up for the task of marriage. In January of 2000 a wedding in the middle of an ice storm was the perfect way to begin the whirlwind ahead. In 2005 the twin boys, Julian and McClendon were born.Curry cherished his family. The past few years were hard on Curry’s health. He had some downturns but all seemed to be manageable. This past Saturday he had a wonderful day with his family.Making them his famous roast dinner.Sunday morning his health failing sent them to the hospital. He fought hard and the doctors did everything they could do to save him but this time it wasn’t enough. God took Curry peacefully with his friends and family by his side.Curry leaves behind his wife, Mary Margaret Adamson May, sons, Curry Julian May III and McClendon Reeves May.His parents, Maxine and Curry Julian May, Sr., his sister Caroline May Echols and her husband Charles Ernest Echols Jr., his niece Virginia May, and his nephew John William, Uncle James Howard Smith of LaFayette, GA and Uncle Charles Edward May of Washington, DC. Curry, loved life, embraced it and sometimes challenged it.May he rest in peace but always with the beat of the Rolling Stones sounding in heaven. May the good Lord shine a light on you, Make every song (you sing) your favorite tune. May the good Lord shine a light on you, Warm like the evening sun.
