Mr. Carol Clayton Combs, 76, of Grovetown, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015 in University Hospital.A native of Taliaferro County, he was the son of the late Dorsey Carol and Hazel King Combs.Mr. Combs served in the U.S. Army and retired from Lucent Technologies in 2000 after 38 years.He was a member of Phillips Mill Baptist Church.He was devoted to his family, and a loyal and hardworking man. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 27th at 4:00pm in Phillips Mill Baptist Church, Washington, Georgia with Rev. Dave Dillard officiating.Interment will follow in the church cemetery.Cade Combs, Todd Combs, Brandon Combs, Will Combs, Scott Smith and Drew Eber will serve as pallbearers. Survivors include his wife of 51years, Linda Attaway Combs; daughter and son in law, Cyndi and Jackie Eber, of Evans; two sons and daughters in law, Jason and Kim Combs ofGrovetown and Craig and Lucretia Combs, of Greensboro;two brothers, Dorsey D. (Mackie) Combs, of Appling and Eddie L. Combs, of Crawfordville; one sister, June (Edward) Smith, of Washington;seven grandchildren, Paige Eber, Drew Eber, Jase Combs, Cade Combs, Ella Combs, Brodie Combs and Cal Clayton Combs. The family will receive friends in Phillips Mill Baptist Church Tuesday from 3:00 until service time. The family extends special thanks to Dr. Danny Newman, The Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home and Warren Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Adult Ministry at Warren Baptist Church, 3203 Washington Rd., Augusta, GA 30907.
