Clarence Monroe Harper, 79, of 325 Water St., died Saturday morning, May 23, 2009 at Will Memorial Hospital.He was a native of Wilkes County, the son of the late John Willand Sara Emma Rhodes Harper.Mr. Harper was retired from Lindsey Chevrolet where he managed the Tire Department and had worked for Pet Milk for many years.He served his country in the National Guard and was of non-denominational faith. Graveside services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, May 26, 2009 in Washington-Wilkes Memorial Gardens with Mr. Roy Powick officiating.David Harper, Jason Bailey, Terry Blakey, Matt Berry, Matthew Powick and Jimmy Harper will serve as pallbearers.Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Brian Farr, William Adams, Jeffrey Blakey, Rhodes Seger and Steve Brown. Survivors include his wife, Ethel Harper; two sons, Dennis Clarence Harper and wife, Mattie, of Thomson and Ronald David Harper and fiancé, Sherry Brown, of Tignall;two daughters, Janice Elaine Powick and husband, Roy of Augusta and Jeannie Ganus and husband, Randall of Lincolnton; one brother, James Harper of Tignall and one sister, Edna Blakey, of Tignall; eleven grandchildren, and seventeen great grand-children.
