Claire Edwards Stratton

Mrs. Miriam Claire Edwards Stratton, 80, of Crawfordville (Sandy Cross), entered into rest Sunday morning, May 8, 2022, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital. Mrs. Stratton was born in Taliaferro County and had lived there all of her life.She was the daughter of the late Ralph Owen and Edith Evans Edwards, and was the widow of Mr. James Russell Stratton.Claire worked at Chipman Union in Union Point for about 40 years.She was a member of Woodmen of the World, and was a member of the Bethesda Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Emerson Edwards. Claire is survived by two daughters, Melanie S. Boatwright, and Susan S. Yearwood (Mark), both of Crawfordville; one son, Edward Stratton (Brittany), of Crawfordville; one brother, Melvin Edwards, of Crawfordville; eight grandchildren, Carmen Echols (Brandon), Rachel DeVerger (Tom), Rebecca Hannis, Ethan Yearwood (Rina), Aaron Yearwood, Jakob William Stratton, Ryan Conner Stratton, and Abigail Paisley Stratton; two great grandchildren, William Echols, and Adalynn Hannis; and two sisters-in-law, Margaret Edwards, and Kathy Stratton Howard (Ricky), both of Washington. Funeral services will be Wednesday afternoon at 3:00, May 11, 2022, at the Hopkins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Casper officiating.Interment will follow at the Clifford Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon at Hopkins Funeral Home for one hour prior to the service (2:00-3:00pm).
