Chris Lee Mcavoy

Mr. Christopher Lee “Chris” McAvoy, 39, of Washington, died July 17, 2011 at Medical College of Georgia.He was a native of Wilkes County, attended Athens Tech where he received a certificate in diesel engine mechanics and worked for the Wilkes County Animal Shelter for much of his life.Chris was preceded in death by grandparents, Carl E. Sisson, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. McAvoy and Thomas Wheatley. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11:00a.m. at Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include parents, Gloria and Tommy Wheatley, of Rayle; father, Marshall Allen McAvoy; grandmothers, Mildred Sisson, of Rayle and Christine Wheatley, of Rayle; brother Richard McAvoy and his wife, Lisa, of Washington; nieces, Amy and Taylor McAvoy; Uncle Carl E. Sisson, Jr. and his wife Vickie, of Madison, Alabama; and Mike Wheatley, of Rayle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6-8pm.
