Charles Young

Mr. Charles Young, 94, of Washington, died Sunday, December 22, 2013 in Wills Memorial Hospital.A native of Washington, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mamie Flynt Combs.Mr. Young was a retired plumber/electrician and a member of Bethel UMC.He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII. Funeral services will be Tuesday, at 11:00am in Bethel UMC with Rev. Richard Broom officiating.Interment will follow in the church cemetery.Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers and members of the VFW Post 5899 will serve as honorary pallbearers. Survivors include his wife, Lucy Spence Young; one daughter, Beverly Y. Hopkins, Washington; three sons, Doug Young, Spartanburg, S.C., Crayton Young ( Charmin), Washington and Clary Young (Cheryl), Crawfordville; two brothers Johnny Young and Tommy Young, both of Washington; two sisters, Margaret Gunter, Washington and Betty Drinkard, Eatonton; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00pm at the funeral home.
