Charles Stables McIntosh, 96, of Lexington died Monday, January 24, 2022, at his home.A graveside service will be held on February 2 at Washington-Wilkes Memorial Gardens at 11am. Hopkins Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for the family. Mr. “Mac” McIntosh was born in Kennethmont, Huntley, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.He was the fourth of ten children born to the late Robert and Mary Bella McIntosh.In June 1946 he married Lilian Rose Clee and they immigrated to the United States of America in 1947 where he worked as the General Manager for H&L Farms in New Jersey for a number of years before moving to Georgia to manage Caloga Farms in the mid 70s and finally to Sandy Cross in the mid 90s.He was a charter member of the Wilkes County Cattlemen’s Association and in 2001 was the recipient of the Hall of Fame Award for 60 years of Angus farming.He was also a member of the Oglethorpe Cattlemen’s Association, the Georgia Angus Association and the American Angus Association.He was a pioneer in the Angus growth and breeding program in the US.He spent over 80 years in the Angus industry.One of his proudest achievements was that he had sold cattle in every state in the US except Alaska and internationally to 4 different countries. Survivors include his sister Gladys and Wyness Mitchell of Huntly Scotland, brother Duncan McIntosh of Aberdeenshire, Scotland; daughters Mary-Ann and Richard Schulze of Rochester, VT; Phyllis and Walter Bluhm of Roswell, GA; son Robert McIntosh of Lexington, GA; grandchildren Charlie McIntosh, Katie Bluhm and Michael Bluhm and many nieces and nephews residing in Scotland.
