Mr. Boyce Heard Fortson, Jr., 88, of Danburg Rd. in Tignall, died Sunday morning, January 17, 2016, at Doctor’s Hospital in Augusta. Mr. Fortson was born in Tignall, and was the son of the late Boyce H. Fortson and Willie Belle House Fortson, and was the widower of Susie Inez Stamey Fortson.He was a member of the Fishing Creek Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and church treasurer for a number of years, and was a member and one of the founders of the Danburg Volunteer Fire Department. He was a retired office manager of the Wilkes County Department of Agriculture. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at Fishing Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Cates and Rev. Barry McAvoy officiating.Interment will follow in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Active pallbearers will be Adam Fortson, Anthony Osborne, Mike Fortson, Mike Guinn, Barrett Ware, and Tim Standard.Honorary Pallbearers will be the deacons of the Fishing Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Fortson is survived by two sons, Lonnie Fortson (Margaret) and Larry Fortson (Vivian), both of Tignall; two daughters, Barbara F. McAvoy (Barry), and Joyce F. Sifre, both of Tignall; five grandchildren, Adam Fortson, Anthony Osborne, Lauren Morris, Marlyse Sifre, and Marisa Sifre; and two great grandchildren, Edee Fortson, and A.J. Fortson. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fishing Creek Baptist Church Building Fund.
