Bonnie S. Boatwright

Mrs. Bonnie Mae Smith Boatwright, 82, of Rayle, Georgia passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2020. Mrs. Boatwright was born in Lexington, Georgia, daughter of the late Robert Lewis Smith and Lois Patton Smith.She was preceded in death by her husband, John Boatwright.Mrs. Boatwright worked in the textile industry until her retirement and was a member of Saris Baptist Church. Survivors include her children: Connie B. Gamble, Kay Berry (Lamar), and John Wesley Boatwright.She also leaves behind three grandchildren: Brooke Welborn (Bernard), Trey Berry (Sarah), and Rachel Holdsworth; six great grandchildren; a brother, James Smith (Sharon); and a sister, Martha Jones.She was also preceded in death by two brothers, R.L. Smith and Jett Smith, and a sister, Frankie Jones. A service to celebrate Mrs. Boatwright’s life will be held on Friday, September 4, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Sardis Baptist Church, with Rev. Jim Newsome officiating.A time of visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. just prior to the service.Interment will be in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Calvin Smith, Adam Spence, Barry Echols, Page Walker, Kenneth Poss and Dewayne Fields. Arrangements for Mrs. Bonnie Boatwright are in the care of Hopkins Funeral Home of Washington.
