Mr. Bobby Gene Blackmon, 80, of Washington entered into rest on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Harper’s Personal Care Home. Mr. Blackmon was born in Tignall and had lived in Wilkes County for most of his life.He was the son of the late Tom Cobb and Agnes Gill Blackmon, and was the widower of Marty Louise Blackmon. Bobby graduated from Tignall High School in 1959.He then spent the next 6 years in the Army.He was the manager of Goldkist/Southern States in Washington for 33 years before retiring in 2006. Mr. Blackmon is survived by his two sons, Robert Todd Blackmon, and wife Sharon, of Tignall, and Timothy Michael Blackmon, and wife Rachel, of Alabaster, AL; and by four grandchildren, Marty Blackmon Skinner, Jake Blackmon, Brett Blackmon and Cassidy Blackmon who all loved their “Big Daddy” dearly. Bobby was a loving father, grandfather and friend to all. He loved life and enjoyed meeting up for coffee with his local friends, spending time at the beach with his family, caring for his dog, Scooby and of course, cheering for the Dawgs. Memorial services will be 11:00am Friday, September 10, 2021, at Hopkins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Reviere officiating. Visitation will be on Friday morning for one hour prior to the service at Hopkins Funeral Home Chapel (10:00-10:55am) Hopkins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Bobby G. Blackmon.
