Mr. William DeanAmis, Jr., 76, of Washington, died Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the Doctors Hospital in Augusta. Mr. Amis was born in Athens, and was the son of the late William Dean Amis and Margaret Sara Bell Amis.He was a self-employed entrepreneur in the lumber industry.He was a University of GA alumnus and served in the U.S. Coast Guard.Mr. Amis was a Rotarian, was a Will Watt Fellow, a Paul Harris Fellow,and a member and communicant of the Washington Church of the Mediator.He was confirmed at the Emanuel Episcopal Church in Athens, and was a charter member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew at the Church of the Mediator. Graveside memorial services will be Thursday morning, June 26, 2014, at 11:00 at Resthaven Cemetery with Rev. Loree Reed officiating. He is survived by his wife, Guerry Lyndon Amis, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Lyndon and Leigh Ann Amis, of Washington; one daughter, Elizabeth Amis, of Buford; one sister, Mrs. Betty A. Jackson, of Washington; two grandchildren, William Blake Amis and Britteny Leigh Blissett; and two great grandchildren, Charlie Alynn Amis, and Peyton Ansleigh, McClain. The family will receive friends at the cemetery after the service Thursday morning.
