Bettye Griffin Duke 76 of Louisville, KY passed away July 6, 2020 at her residence. She was born in Washington, GA, March 21, 1944, a daughter of Joseph Augustus and Eliza Gladys Hackney Griffin. In addition to her parents, Bettye was preceded in death by her siblings, Joe Griffin, Jr. and Eva Burdette. She was a 1962 graduate of Washington-Wilkes High School. Bettye retired after 30 years as office manager for Avnet, Inc.She was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. She loved to travel and was a woman of many talents: cooking, knitting, sewing and working in her flowers. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Richard L Duke; nephews, Ed (Boo) Burdette III, and wife, Teresa of Washington, Bill Burdette and wife, Mary Elizabeth of Washington, Trent Cloer and wife, Mary Katherine of Hoschton, GA; nieces, Rhonda Newberry and husband, Johnny of Washington, JoAnna Waller and husband, Wade of Washington, Kaye Bufford and husband, Bill of Lincolnton, and Dawn Pickens of Washington; and sister- in-law, Bobbie Ann Griffin of Washington Graveside services is 6:00 PM Tuesday, August 4th at Phillips Mill Baptist Church with Dr. Brad Weldy officiating.Visitation begins one hour before the service, at Phillips Mill Baptist Church.
