Mrs. Bessie Lillian Standard Lindsey, 91, of Tignall, died February 1, 2012 in Heritage Healthcare of Wilkes.A native of Danburg, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late John Haynes and Mary Lou Bunch Standard.Mrs. Lindsey was a long time member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church where she was a Children's Sunday School teacher for many years.Mrs. Lindsey worked at Royal Manufacturing Comapany for several years before becoming a ParaPro with the Washington-Wilkes School System from which she retired.She married George Bennie Lindsey in 1938 and was preceded in death by him in 1999. Funeral servicews will be Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 11am in Fishing Creek Baptist Church with Rev. John McPherson Jr. and Rev. Roy Cates officiating.Interment will follow in the church cemetery.Rusty Hendricks, Jason Smith, Dave Lindsey, Ken Standard, Tim Standard and Barry Denard will serve as pallbearers. Survivors include two sons and daughters in law, David and Linda Lindsey of Washington and Kenneth and Debbie Lindsey of Washington; one daughter, Melanie Sammons of Sylvania; one sister, Mary Denard; one brother, Anderson Standard Sr; six grandchildren, Dave Lindsey, Laura Hendricks, Jason Smith, Mary Ellen Lindsey, Karin Leigh Lindsey and Kristie Marie Lindsey Rose; six great grandchildren, Brittney Wales, Christopher Michael, Ashley Michael, Brooke Lane Forehand, Christopher Tillman and Kurston Smith; two great, great grandchildren, Laney Rae Forehand and Gentry Tillman. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
