Mr. Benson Joel “Ben Joe” Norman, 78, entered into rest Friday evening, August 12, 2022, at Silver Leaf Memory Care in Snellville, Ga. Mr. Norman was born in Wilkes County, and had lived in Wilkes County for the last 17 years. He was the son of the late Horace and Wilma Bailey Norman, and was the husband of Linda Land Norman. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, having spent time on the USS Forrestal super carrier. He had his Masters in Business, worked with Gulf Oil, and was a computer programmer for Sunguard for a number of years. He was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church, and had been a longtime member of the Pope’s Chapel United Methodist Church. While living in the Atlanta area, he had been a member at the Avondale Baptist Church, where he had also served as a Deacon. He was preceded in death by his sister, Nanci Norman Faulk. Mr. Norman is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda L. Norman, of Washington; one son, Andrew Norman, and fiance Karen, of Loganville; two daughters, Jill N. Henderson (Jason), of Covington, and Robin N. Tyler (Brian), of Washington; one brother, Jimmy Norman, of Tignall; 14 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Memorial services will be at 1:00pm Friday, August 19, 2022, at the Pope’s Chapel United Methodist Church on the Broad Rd. in Tignall. The family will be receiving friends from 12:00 noon until the time of the service (12:00 until 1:00pm) at the church.
