Beatrice "Beechie" Newsome Sherrer

Mrs. Beatrice “Beechie” Newsome Sherrer, 89, of Washington, passed away January 20, 2015 at Heritage Healthcare of Wilkes.She was born on January 26, 1925 in Washington, to the late Andrew Jackson Newsome, Jr. and the late Flora Anderson Newsome.Mrs. Sherrer had worked for A&P Food Stores and Clark-Schwebel.She was a member of First Baptist Church of Washington.Her husband, Gordon Sherrer preceded her in death in 1972. A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 11:00am in Resthaven Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Madden and Rev. Jim Newsome officiating.Bob Haughey, Brent Sherrer, Sparky Newsome, Drew Thomas, Reese Taylor and Jeff Anderson will serve as pallbearers. Survivors include son and daughter in law, Mike and Debra Sherrer, of Rayle; two grandchildren, Whitney Sherrer Taylor and her husband, Reese, of Rayle and Lindsay Sherrer Thomas, and her husband, Drew, of Glennville; three great grandchildren, Knox Taylor, Beckett Taylor and Wilkes Thomas. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
