Barry Stephens Bailey

Mr. Barry Stephens Bailey, 66, of Washington, died Friday, December 30, 2016, at Roswell Rehabilitation & Nursing Home in Roswell. Mr. Bailey was born in Washington to the late Crawford Lee (Mutt) Bailey and Bessie Alline Saggus Bailey.He was a 1968 graduate of Washington-Wilkes High School and graduated from UGA in 1972 with honors with a B.S. Degree in Psychology.Mr. Bailey spent his working career serving Wilkes County, where he was a Deputy Sherriff for the Wilkes County Sherriff Department, the director of the 911 Communications Center, and was a volunteer fireman for the Wilkes County Fire Department.He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Bailey Henderson, and by his brother Billy E. Bailey. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Elaine Lawrence Bailey; two sons, Michael Allen Bailey, of Atlanta, and Matthew Lawrence Bailey (Katie), of Anderson, SC; one grandson, Cameron Bailey, Anderson, SC; and two granddaughters, Claire and Elle Bailey, also of Anderson, SC. Memorial services will be 1:00 Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at the Washington First Baptist Church with Rev. Albert Huyck officiating.The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the First Baptist Church sanctuary (12:00 noon- 12:50pm).
