Barbara J. Smith

Mrs. Barbara J. Smith, 72, of Pope St. In Tignall, passed away Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, at Greene Point Health and Rehabilitation in Union Point. Mrs. Smithhad lived in Wilkes County for 35 years.She was the daughter of the late John R. Talley and Effie Carpenter Talley, and was the wife of John Lindsey Smith, Jr.She had worked at Hollander in Tignall as a seamstsress for a number of years. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, John Lindsey Smith, Jr., of Tignall; one son, Charles Asherbranner, of Savannah; one daughter, Carol Henderson, of Dillard; two grandchildren and several great grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel Ayers, of Lavonia, Pearl Carpenter, of Scaley Mountain, NC, several nieces and nephews, and by three god sons, Matthew Wilson, Rhett Denard, and Grant Denard. There will be a visitation at Hopkins Funeral Home from 6-8pm Saturday evening, November 10, 2018, after which she will be cremated according to her wishes.
