Ashley E. Schutza

Ms. Ashley Edmunds Schutza, 41, of Watkinsville, entered into rest on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at her home. Ashley was born in Augusta to William Roderick (Roddy) Edmunds and Sandra Keith Edmunds.She was a graduate of Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School, had lived in Watkinsville for the past seven years, and was most recently a surgical technician at Athens Eye Doctors and Surgeons.Earlier, Ashley was interested in Funeral Service and earned her Funeral Service and Associates degree from Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science.Its apparent that she had a love for serving and helping others. She is survived by two daughters, Laney Marguerite Moyer, and Saylor Grace Smith, both of Watkinsville; parents, Roddy and Sandra Keith Edmunds, of Washington; two brothers, Roderick Keith Edmunds (Nikki), of Evans, and William Brantley Edmunds, of Union Point; three nieces, Destiny McElroy, Treasure McElroy, and Phoebe Edmunds; four nephews, Brock McElroy, Colby McElroy, Landry Edmunds, and McCoy Edmunds; two great nieces and one great nephew.Ashley was preceded in death by her life partner of twelve years, Benji Smith, her sister, Heather Edmunds, and by her niece, Presley Edmunds. Funeral services will be at 2:00 Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at the New Life Baptist Church with Pastor Arthur Key officiating.Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, January 11, 2022, from 6-8 at Hopkins Funeral Home. Hopkins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Ashley Edmunds Schutza.
