Mrs. Anne Cooper Simpson passed away June 10, 2010, at the Heritage Nursing Home in Washington, GA. Born July 20, 1914 in Buena Vista, GA, Anne was the daughter of the late Warren Clyde Cooper and Carrie Wooten Cooper of Pelham, GA. After graduation from Pelham High School, Anne joined her father working in the Pelham Banking Co.During this time she met her future husband, Addison W. Simpson, Jr., who was attending Medical School in Augusta, GA.They were married on October 26, 1940 in Pelham, GA and moved to Washington, GA. Anne was a member of the Washington Presbyterian Church where she served as president and treasurer of the Women of the Church for many years, and was active in the global missions and the youth of the church. Her contributions and activities within Washington, Wilkes County and Georgia included memberships in the Iris Garden Club, the Washington Woman’s Club, the Humane Society, Dept. of Family and Children’s Services, Friends of the Library, Wilkes County Chapter of the American Red Cross and both committee positions and leader roles in both Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Addison Wingfield Simpson, Jr., and her grandson, Cpl. Michael Patrick Eskew, Jr.
