Mrs. Elizabeth Anne Lunceford Cox of Crawfordville, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 23, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Louie and Ruby Finch Lunceford. She graduated from Alexander Stephens Institute in Crawfordville, GA, and attended Athens Technical College where she studied business and bookkeeping. Anne worked as bookkeeper for Georgia Wood Preserving for the past fifty years. She was loved and cherished by her co-workers and was called a best friend, sister, second mama, keeper of etiquette and "the foundation" of Georgia Wood Preserving. She was a lifelong member of Sandy Cross Methodist Church where she was the pianist for many years. She was a long time member of the Sharon-Raytown Garden Club and known for her prize winning mums.Her hobbies were music, gardening, camping and attending performances of The Augusta Ballet, The Augusta Opera, and Broadway Musicals. She was also an avid fan of music written and performed by her grandson, Will McCranie. Pallbearers are Will McCranie, Dr. Bill Burdeaux, Phil Hallford, Clay Hall, Bill Hall and Terry Crocker. Honorary Pallbearers are Jane Hubert, Marie Fickling,Barney Johnson, Terry Thornton and all members of the Pine Point Camping Club. Sheis survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Melvin L. Cox, her daughter, Tammy Cox Burdeaux and her spouse, Dr. Bill Burdeaux of Augusta, her grandson, Will McCranie of New York, her sister, Lynn Lunceford of Eatonton, her nephew, Phil Hallford and his spouse, Mary of Florida, great nephews, Andy and Brad Hallford, and great great nephew, Tyler Hallford of Florida, sister-in-law, Mrs. Allen ( Lois) Cox of Brunswick, and nephews Dennis Cox, Tommy Cox and Joe Cox. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Dr. Jeremy Wells and staff of Medical Oncology Augusta, Dr. Charles Howell of Augusta University (GRU), University Hospital 10 W nursing and PCA staff, interventional radiology staff and interventional radiologistsDr. Tannehil, Dr. Riggins, and Dr. Meitling and to Dr.Ramzi Assad. She knew everyone by name and felt very loved and well cared for during her time of need. Graveside services will be held Friday, September 25, 2015 at 11 a.m. atSandy Cross Methodist Church with Rev Ed Rees officiationg.
