Scott Chafin Washington:Mr. Andrew Scott Chafin, 51, of Skull Shoals Rd., died Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Wills Memorial Hospital. Mr. Chafin was born in Washington, and had lived here all of his life.He was the son of Charles and Amelia Cofer Chafin, and was the husband of Donna Gunter Chafin.He was employed by Wilkes Telephone and Electric, and had been a member of the Washington and Tignall Volunteer Fire Departments with 25 years of service.He was a member of the Phillips Mill Baptist Church. Mr. Chafin is survived by his wife, Donna Gunter Chafin, of Washington; one son, Whit Chafin (Lindsay Hughes)of Washington; one daughter, Lauren Chafin, Washington; parents, Charles Chafin and Amelia C. Chafin, of Washington; one brother, Steve Chafin (Mary Beth), of Forsyth; Father-in Law, Thomas Gunter, and mother-in-law, Jean McAvoy Gunter, of Washington; three nieces, Brittni C. Biggee (Nick), Faith Gunter, and Blair Gunter; and one nephew, Casey Chafin. Graveside services will be 11:00am Friday morning, July 22, 2016, at the Phillips Mill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Mark Woods officiating.The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8pm at Hopkins Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Scott Smith, Ty Poss, Mark Walker, Casey Jackson, David Chafin, and Joey Saggus.Wilkes Telephone Employees and Fire Department members will serve as honorary pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Phillips Mill Baptist Church, or to the Bethel United Methodist Church.
