Amy Bennett Long, 51, of Washington, Ga. entered into rest on June 24, 2021 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga. surrounded by her family. Amy was born in Montgomery, Alabama on March 31, 1970. Although she lived most of her adult life in Wilkes County, she grew up in Augusta, GA and was a 1988 graduate of Evans High School. Amy began her teaching career in 1995 in Richmond County before she was hired in 1997 in Wilkes County. Over the course of her career Amy has worked with Early Childhood students as a Media Specialist at Washington-Wilkes Primary School and Washington-Wilkes Elementary School and since 2015 Amy has served as the Technology Director for the Wilkes County School System. Amy loved spending time with friends and family, reading, traveling and cheering on her Georgia Bulldogs. Left to cherish Amy’s memories is her beloved husband; Will Long, two sons Nicholas Bristow and Robert (Bobby) Reville, both of Athens; her mother, Rose L. Bennett; her brothers, Joe (Laurie) Bennett III, Will and Ben of Suwanne, GA, Jon (Sabrina) Bennett and Alli of Washington, GA, Jim (Donna) Bennett, Jessica, Zach and Jake of Thomson, GA; father-in-law Wilson Long of Washington, GA ; sister-in-law Sherrer Long of Washington, GA ; mother-in-law Faye Justice Thornton of Washington, GA; brothers-in-law Chad (Felicia) Thornton, Mason and Maggie of Washington, GA, Derrick (Brittany) Thornton Sawyer and Zoey of Washington, GA. She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Waldo Bennett Jr, and a daughter Destiny Anne Long. The family will receive family and friends at their home at 108 Elizabeth Drive Washington, GA on Saturday, June 26, 2021 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. The family will have a private graveside service on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at the Armstrong Family Cemetery.
