Alonzo Terrell Ray

Lonnie Ray, of Washington, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023- three days prior to his 89th birthday. Lonnie was born in Washington to the late Joseph Terrell Ray and Lena Virginia Rhodes Ray. He graduated from the Alexander Stephens Institute in Crawfordville before moving to Atlanta where he worked for Western Electric and was in real estate. Upon returning to the area, Lonnie became a special influence in his granddaughters' lives, never missing a school event or a ballgame. Later in life, Lonnie enjoyed a brisk walk and a hot cup of McDonald's coffee. He is survived by his son, Shawn Ray of Washington; brother, Patrick Clem Ray (Anne) of Welaka, FL; sister, Nancy R. Sisson (Mickey) of Washington; two granddaughters, Brittany Ray and Brandy Ray; and great granddaughter, Madalyn Ray. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Brett Ray. Interment will be private at a later date in Raytown Methodist Church Cemetery.
