Alex Thurmond

Alex Thurmond Mr. Alex Thurmond, 66, of Washington, died September 22, 2013 at his home.A native of Wilkes County, he was the son of Margie Shedd Thurmond and the late Sandy Thurmond.Alex was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Thurmond and first wife, Sherry Thurmond.He had worked in the wood processing industry and was a member of Harvest Time Christian Center. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11:00am in Washington-Wilkes Memorial Gardens with Rev. Terry Casper and Sis. BrendaVandiver officiating. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Brady Thurmond; Mother, Margie Thurmond, Washington; son and daughter in law, Jody and Angelia Thurmond, Cornelia; daughters and sons in law, Kristy and James Hubbard, Washington, Amanda and Paul York, Crawford and Barbara Jean McAdams, Danielsville; sister, Mary Bowick, Washington; grandchildren, Ethan York, Katelyn Hubbard, Lera Thurmond and Canaan Thurmond. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 – 9pm at the funeral home.
